“ Great live music on a Satuday morning. How great is that for those of us who don't go out at night much! And the California bagels and hot chocolate were delicious and the service was cheerful! . This is a great little steam punk vibe place tucked away in the Brooklyn neighborhood which has changed and evolved and survived over the years. Lots of people were working , visiting, variety of generations represented. How fun . Thanks Rose City Coffee! ”
“ One of my favorite coffee shops! Don’t be a jerk, and pick up after yourself! They have a dish container IN THE MIDDLE of the shop. Anyway, their pesto club is SO good, as well as their seasonal raspberry matcha. I’m not a big fan of the chai— too sweet for me— but it’s very yummy still. Lots of seating, I see some regulars here and there. They also have this little shop area with cute local work. I haven’t attended but they have music on the weekends I believe. I think it’d be cool if there’s like an intentional social event to meet people (not necessarily trivia, but like hosting an origami class, we buy a drink or food, and sit and get to know people in our community at our favorite shop!). They have lots of posters for other events. There is parking, but sometimes you can park across the street. There’s only one bathroom and sometimes the line can take a while. Love this place! ”
“ Update 10/02/2025: I've updated my review from three to four starts. They seem like they have have improved their networking. I really like Rose City Cafe but I'll be finding another cafe to go to. What's good: Their coffee is decent. Pastries are passable. Patrons are serious, working people. Not your typical annoying bar crowd. Open till 11pm. You can count on them to make you a latte late at night. What's not good: There is usually no parking available. Place is crowded. Most of time the only seat is on a bench with no backrest. You better have strong back. Suggestion to the owner: Buy the store next door and expand. You have the capital obviously. ”
“ Rose City is by far my favorite coffee shop in Portland. The staff is incredible--everyone is so friendly and wants to get to know you. They take pleasure in their work and the coffee they make. The atmosphere is cozy, making it perfect for catching up with a friend or working. The food is very good (a tiny bit pricey, but worth it). Cannot recommend this place enough! Only drawback is parking and seating can be a bit hard to get sometimes, but the bar space inside and free roadside parking nearby means you'll almost always find something. ”
“ The baristas are lovely and the coffee is consistently delicious. They also make the best BLT in town, possibly one of my favorite sandwiches ever. Try Rose City! We're lucky to have a coffee shop like this in our neighborhood. ”
